On 17-18 June, the focus is on seniors and digital citizenship
The district of Altona (Hamburg), together with the City of Marseille and “TheMayor.EU – the European Portal for Cities and Citizens” are pleased to invite you to the second EUDIGIT webinar: “The Elderly, the digital divide and citizenship”.
The event will explore the topics of digital divide and citizenship, how the divide impacts the elderly and how cities can design more inclusive digital policies, together with citizens and local stakeholders. The webinar will take place on 17-18 June 2021 and is free and open for anyone to join.
The first day will see introductory remarks by high-ranking politicians from Hamburg and the district of Altona, as well as by members of the project consortium. An entire panel will be dedicated to the exploration of the successful digital policies for seniors that each EUDIGIT partner city has implemented on its territory.
BAGSO, the German National Association of Senior Citizens, will present an overview of the situation of the elderly and the digital landscape in the country. European policy experts and decision makers will bring the EU perspective to the debate and will introduce us to the Green Paper on Ageing.
Finally, the afternoon session will give the floor to senior citizens from partner cities, who will together discuss how they make use of digital services, the challenges they face and what expectations they have towards their local administrations.
The second webinar day will be all about the local action and how cities from across Europe have made progress in integrating seniors in the digitalisation processes. Various aspects of the smart city concept for seniors will be explored – from Artificial Intelligence to e-health.
You can already reserve your spot and join us on Zoom. Registration is free, but mandatory on this link.
The working language is English. The full agenda can be downloaded from this link.
The webinar is the second of a series of six seminars under the European project “EUDIGIT – European Digital Citizens”. Until March 2023, the cities of Marseille, Varna, Genoa, Hamburg, Rotterdam and Cluj-Napoca, supported by “TheMayor.EU – the European Portal for Cities and Citizens”, will work on achieving the following ambitious objectives:
EUDIGIT is funded under the Europe for Citizens programme of the European Union. A retrospective on the first seminar on the topic of youth and more information about EUDIGIT is available on the project website.
